Wow.

We couldn’t even make it six days into 2021 before something happened that made 2020 seem normal.

Last weeks attack on the Capitol Building was just the latest in a series of assaults against our democracy perpetuated on the American people by Donald J. Trump. These assaults by Mr. Trump have been supported, substantiated, and enabled by the vast majority of our elected Republican officials over the last five to ten years.

I am by no means a Constitutional Scholar. But, I know a thing or two. I’ve been taught some of the supreme laws of the land as a kid and a student. As an adult I’ve researched and studied more than I was ever taught so that I could a) be in the know and b) teach certain sections of it to my former students.

Never did I ever think I’d take a dive so deep that I would be familiar with Amendment 14, Section III which,

prohibits any person who had gone to war “insurrection” against the union or given aid and comfort to the nation’s enemies from running for federal or state office,

Whatever and however Section 3 of the 14 Amendment to the U.S. Constitution can be enacted I would like to enact it against our outgoing President as opposed to yet another impeachment. First, I do not believe there is enough time to even get through an impeachment and after next Wednesday I just want to be done with this chapter of our history. Second, I don’t want to wast more taxpayer money on yet another impeachment where all involved refuse to listen to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Third, I don’t want to waste the time of our elected members of Congress and the Senate on this issue.

The American People have already spoken for better or worse Joe Biden will take over as President next week. I do not believe a forceful removal from office is necessary. However, and because of the words, actions, activities of Team Trump over the last 5 years I do feel disqualifying him from ever holding publicly elected office again is the correct punishment. Either way he, his associates, his family, known and otherwise are all still under investigation for all that other stuff from before.
