After returning from a morning drive, while enjoying a cup of coffee, responding to a few constituent emails, and as Missy was reading through the morning headlines or low lights. We began discussing how political endorsements get made and she suggested I write* a post posing this question made famous by Janet Jackson 30 plus years ago.
What have you done for me lately?
It’s a valid question. She then said I should include the song by Janet Jackson so here you go:
Janet, from a political standpoint it’s been very little.
It’s past time for all of US to expect more from our elected officials. In my nearly 41 years on this planet I know these truths to be self evident that money runs politics, people pay taxes, corporations find loop holes, workers bare the brunt of all economic and societal strifes, and those that have, have more.
We are still polluting our environment. Our education system is still broken. No one can truly be free until we all have the same unalienable rights. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness should apply to all citizens. Not just those that already have. No single American should ever be priced out, educated out, or otherwise made to feel lesser than those that already have. At least that is the part of American society that I still believe in.
I’m not sure why we as a society are still so dead set on only allowing ourselves to believe we can only choose between A or B. Left or Right. Republican or Democrat. An elephant in our womb or a jack ass masquerading as a compassionate person.
Don’t believe me?
Try speaking with a candidate running for office
I’m one of three people you can vote for in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. I’m the only one willing to listen, meet, and speak with the people for free about your cares, concerns, and desires from an elected official.

I’m running for you.
As all of US.
