Doin the best I can, September 27th

Life as a politician is just like any job I’ve ever had, it’s work. Running a campaign the way I’m running it is a lot different than any campaign I have ever been aware of. I’m my own boss which is great but as the political signs begin to go up, the radio and tv adds start popping up I begin to feel the weight of the money involved in politics. I knew it would happen. I knew I couldn’t out spend anyone so I’m doing what I’ve always done, I’m outworking them.

Marion, Noblesville, Carmel, Jonesboro, Westfield, Gas City, Fairmont, and I’m heading back up to Jonesboro this afternoon for the last day of the River Rally. The River Rally has been great politically speaking and personally. I have met a shitload* of people and it has reminded me of where I come from. Not that I have ever forgotten or wondered. But, it’s been at least 20 years since I’ve been around a bunch of Harley enthusiasts. I think that and driving along the same streets the original rebel without a cause rode on has reminded me to keep being me and the rest will take care of itself.

I made appearances all over Grant County at Indiana Wesleyan, The Duck Run, The River Rally, and The James Dean Festival. My usual Tuesday’s with Tucker on Zoom and I was one of a politicians to take part in the Mikva Challenge and I was the only representative from the State of Indiana. Sad really.

Brothers and Sisters

Tryin to make a livin,

And doin the best I can

Ramblin Man

Politically speaking I’m not sure what else I can do to put myself in front of as many voters as possible. I’m trying to make a livin and doin the best I can to be a dad, husband, and a candidate for public office. I have no real clue what I’m doing on social media. Any suggestions?

My daily website traffic has increased each day over the last two weeks. Not coincidentally, so have the miles I’m putting on the poor Element. Have you ever had a special connection to a vehicle? I have once before with my college car an ’89 Cougar. But, that has paled in comparison to the years, miles, and memories Missy, Wrigley, Vonn, Stella, Geri, and I have had in the Element over the last 13 years. Truth be told I hope to get 13 more years and/or another 200K miles.

I was left off the stage Monday night for Indiana’s 5th District Town hall. But, I will be on the debate stage the Tuesday during the Hamilton County League of Women Voters Candidate Forum. I haven’t gotten the links yet but if you are interested I’ll post it as soon as I receive it.

When it’s time for leavin,

I hope you understand

The only regret I have so far with my campaign is that I have not been able to include Missy and the girls. Back in December when I started flipping my signs I came across so many cool parks, hiking trails, restaurants, and other oddities that I had never seen before. Each time I made a note and looked forward to bringing my four ladies with me on the trail. Then, COVID happened and out of caution we have been maintaining our social distance and limiting Stella and Geri’s exposure. It breaks my heart because I love sharing experiences with my family and friends. I’m on this crazy adventure and it’s literally me against the world.
