Bear and Wolf by Daniel Salmieri is quite possibly the greatest visual story telling book I have ever read.

A picture book if you will.

It’s a story about an unlikely walk in the woods. Even before they meet Bear and Wolf teach the reader about point of view and perspective. Once they start their walk perspective and point of view take a back seat to the value of words and actions.

Words and actions are important. But, when we are talking about picture books they are not as important as the illustrations. For the committee that hands out nominations for the Caldecott Medal I nominate* Bear and Wolf by Daniel Salmieri for consideration of this distinction.

That is of course if your into books and illustrations.
